Good luck!! Make everything flat and nationalise businesses one after another, put more people on job seekers allowance and benefit claims, make the UK the land of bankruptcies in the world. If one of the UK banks was planning to sack 100 people, all the news and media would have drill the news into public's head left right and centre, but now BBC and other news channels left this industry to die silently.

Why in the times of maybe the worst recession that most of us have seen would you bring out a law that is going to put more people out of work ?.If it wasnt so serious you would swear it was a joke.

Come on Boys! This is our last chance to be heard. Be there Thursday. If you can provide a nameboard to put in your window saying 'SAVE UK LIMOS.COM' What a rip off £18,000.00 to COIF your car. The Government should wake up and realise there is going to be Thousands of jobs and homes lost and they would be claiming benfits.

hi there i would like to say i am a regular limousine user for private functions or bussiness. ihave never had any problems using limousines i have more problems using public transport as limousines as they provide us with seatbelts. I am utterly disgusted at this law as i feel a good and safe buisness will be destroyed. Limousines meet the same requirements as all vechiles on the road so if you are willing to put a law in for limousines why not all vechiles.

Hi i work for a limo company and i really enjoy my job however ias this law come about i will be out of work which would cause me distress as it is diffcult to find any other jobs at the moment due to the current climate. I have been working here for some time and there has been no accidents with our limos and other vechiles and i dont understand how these vechiles are unsafe on our roads as i am a regular user of london transport and sometimes i have to stand on a bus or train so how can a vehicle that i am seated in with seatblets be unsafe.

I have a few questions?

  • How much 0% fatality can be reduced to?
  • How many lives can be saved with the COIF certificate?
  • How many people will lose their job?
  • How much banks will lose their vehicle finance money, when the companies gone bankrupt.
  • If is illegal, why do the banks and government (Department of trade and industry ) offer finances for purchase and importing these vehicles?
  • Why does HM Revenue and Custom allows these vehicles to be imported by the businesses and apply VAT and custom duty tax on them?
  • If illegal why now, why not last year, why not 10 years ago? What has changed since 10 years ago?

Please mind the gap

19-Sep-2009 | 23:56

I think none of the London's public transports are safe enough, the London Underground is keep repeating “Please mind the GAP” 3 times every minute, every station for the past 30 years!!! and still are doing nothing about this gap, while many of the passengers in central london are tourists and don't understand english. and keep saying please mind the gap, please mind the gap. Poor limo people have be safe as 1,2,3 at a massive cost. Please mind the gap.

I am a black cab driver for 7 years, and feel sad for my fellow limo drivers that will lose their job. If VOSA is looking to increase safety in London, then tackle the 3-wheel bicycles which have no insurance no number plate no taxes, who is who and their number is increasing day by day in London Westend. I have never seen any accident or bad driving attitude from any limos in London; they are decent and hard working people.

I have booked a Hummer limo for 22 passenger for my wedding, next month for the 28th October 2009 and the only reason we booked the bigger car so that all the family members can be together on my special day and i dont see any othe car meets my requirement. This is absolutely insane to enforce such laws ,as limousine is luxury and comfort for people its more safe than a bus or a coach who carries 80 passengers at once . i personally and my family cannot see any logic by enforcing this law ,how many people who end up even loosing their jobs ..

I believe there are enough limousines in the UK to have their own category of law. The problem appears when trying to adopt the same certificates as coaches and mini cabs for limos. This is where apple and orange are treated the same. Although there are common grounds between limos, coaches and taxis but the department of transport in the UK should also address the major differences of the services and the nature of the businesses.

The safety issues are not relevant for limo, as there were no fatalities recorded in the past 15 years in the limo transport. I am a limo driver most of the times I have the limo parked waiting for customers' return and the rest I am stock in the traffic of WestEnd. I think to address the money making innovation of the dudes they could spotlight on parking area. Lack of safety for limos is hard to buy.

We booked a Hummer for our wedding in 26th of October 2009; it is very short notice to change plans, and no other vehicle is appealing for us.

I am a qualified PCV driver; after many years I will lose my job and can’t think of any other opportunity to make ends meet.
